Edge Health

Same walk. A little more to carry.

Weighted walking gear made for the walk you already take. Iron plates sit high and close, and every piece takes the same plate.

How it works

  1. 1

Put it on at the door. SADDLE fastens at the sides with one hand and sits high on your chest and upper back.

  2. 2

Start light. Begin with one pair of CAIRN plates and add a pair when you want to. Talk to your doctor before adding weight to your walks.

  3. 3

Bring what you need. TARN holds your phone and keys. On longer days, BOTHY carries a jacket and takes the same plates.

  4. 4

Hands free, or not. TOR hand weights strap to your palms for the stretch where you want a little more.

Then take the walk you'd take anyway.

One plate, every piece

Every Edge Health piece that carries weight takes the same plate. CAIRN plates are curved iron, shaped to sit close to your body, and they slide into the vest or the daypack. Want more on Saturday than on Tuesday? Add a pair.

Why Edge Health? In English hill country, an edge is a long ridge of rock with a footpath along the top. People have walked them for generations, carrying whatever the day needed. That's the walk we make gear for.

What we don't make

  • Nothing powered: no batteries, no apps, no screens.
  • No plate carriers or tactical gear.
  • Nothing for children.
  • Nothing you eat, drink or put on your skin.

Questions

Will it fit my body?+

SADDLE comes in two fits: one cut for women's bodies, with a shorter torso and shaped shoulders, and a straight cut. Check the size chart with the vest before you order.

How much weight should I start with?+

Start with the lightest setup and add weight slowly. Talk to your doctor before starting a new exercise routine or adding weight to your walks, especially if you are pregnant or have a medical condition. Stop if anything hurts.

Will a weighted vest help my bones or my weight?+

We don't make health claims about our gear. We make a vest that fits and a plate that sits close. Ask your doctor what's right for you.

Does it bounce?+

The plates sit in pockets high on your chest and upper back, and the side straps let you snug the vest down before you set off.

Can I run in it?+

It's made for walking. We don't design it for running or jumping.

Does the daypack take the same plates?+

Yes. Every piece that carries weight takes CAIRN plates, so one set moves between the vest and the daypack.

How do I clean it?+

Take the plates out first, then follow the care label sewn into the vest.
